Course Requirements and Policies
Attendance: Attendance in class and participation in discussion are crucial part of this course. Each student will be allowed no more than two absences during the quarter without suffering a penalty on the final grade. For each absence over two, a one-third of a letter grade penalty will deducted from the student's final average.

Tardiness: Students who arrive late to class will be marked tardy. Three tardies will equal one absence.

Late work: Unless prior arrangements have been made with the instructor (owing to extraordinary circumstances), late work will not be accepted.

Plagiarism: Plagiarism is the unacknowledged use of another person's words or ideas. It constitutes a serious breach of the California State University Code of Student Ethics. Everything a student turns in with his or her name on it must be his or her work. Depending upon the severity of the case, plagiarism can result in failure for the assignment in question or for the entire course.

Course Requirements: To pass the course, students must complete all of the listed assignments. The grading breakdown is as follows:
1) 16 Blackboard Entries (postings and responses to the on-line discussion board) 30%
2) Short Paper (4-6 page analysis of secondary text) 15%
3) Seminar Paper (15-20 pages) 35%
4) Final Examination 20%
