Site author David J. Carlson is Assistant Professor of English at California State University San Bernardino, where he has taught since 2001. He completed his PhD. in English at Indiana University in 2000, where he also taught as an adjunct faculty member during the 2000-2001 academic year.

A specialist in Early American and American Indian Literature, Professor Carlson has published essays on Edward Taylor, Charles Eastman, and J. Hector St. John de Crevecoeur and is currently at work on a book focusing on the relationship between American Indian autobiography and legal discourse.

Professor Carlson teaches a range of undergraduate and Master's level courses on topics ranging from American Indian Literature to Fantasy/Science Fiction.
