The Student: Variation

• The title is a pun on Yo Garcia's use of Lou Castellucci's short story on football. In Yo's account, she introduces a Latino baseball player and his Tio and father.
• Professor Garcia is an anomaly in the New Hampshire college (which is based on Alvarez's own tenure at the elite Middlebury College in Vermont).
