    * How is Thomas torn between two or even three cultures?
    * How does sacrifice function as a motif in the novel?
    * How does Haggard depict masculinity?
    * Describe Haggard's use of imagery in describing war?
    * How does diction come into play in Otomie's speeches? Be specific about the strategies used.
    * Explain the impact of Otomie's return to her "roots' at the end of the novel.
