I grade on a curve with the
highest 35% receiving an A or B. C’s go to those receiving 65% of the top score
in the class (not of the total possible points) and D’s go to those receiving
down to 55% of the top score.
While there is no paper nor
presentation required for this class, the trade off is that you need to be
familiar with all the lectures and readings. You don’t need to
memorize this material, that’s why it open book and open notes, but you need to
be familiar with the main ideas – familiar mainly meaning where to find the
correct information. The top half of the class is on the right track. The
bottom half will need to do more.
As I have several times in
class, I suggest outlining – use existing chapter headings and sub headings
then add your own sub, sub headings. Every time your hear or read “Main Idea”,
Main Cause”, “Significant Relationship”, etc., write the sentence (with a list
if given) in your outline with a page number for future reference.
