DISCUSSION QUESTIONS for Lec 26: Chpt 17. Industrial Ecology

Many different strategies are discussed in this chapter for moving toward an economic system that mimics a natural system. These suggestions together constitute the emerging field of Industrial Ecology. The problem is how to get these strategies implemented. One possible method is through the use of Green Taxes. I would like you to spend 60-90 minutes searching the web for three pieces of interesting information about green taxes: specific examples of what they are, where they have been implemented, are being proposed or discussed, groups and organizations – or any other interesting material you find.

In class, I will ask each of you to summarize one piece of information that you found. This of course will require that you read and understand the information. You will turn in one page for each of the three items you find (i.e., you don’t need to turn in all 3-4 pages of a report or article, only the first which will have the URL address.)
